GTA 6 Delay Rumors: Insider Suggests May 2026 Launch Is Unlikely

Although Rockstar Games has officially announced a May 26, 2026 release date, well-known industry insider Tom Henderson recently cast doubt on that timeline during the Insider Gaming podcast:
“Honestly, I don’t think the game will launch in May. For some reason, I just don’t see it happening. All the chatter and information I’ve seen doesn’t support a May release. I don’t have enough evidence to publish a report yet, so don’t go posting this on Reddit. But Rockstar has consistently proven they’re perfectionists. Personally, I think the game could launch in October, which would line up perfectly with the holiday sales season.”
If GTA 6 were to launch in late 2026, Rockstar could reap several benefits. The year-end holiday period is traditionally the strongest window for game sales, and a blockbuster title of this scale would dominate the market. Additionally, such timing might align more closely with the expected release window of next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 6, adding further momentum.
According to Henderson, an official update on the release schedule could arrive as late as the end of 2025. However, IT Home cautions that this information remains speculative — until Rockstar makes a statement, fans should take these rumors with caution.
