Since its 2016 launch, No Man’s Sky has evolved for more than nine years, and the recent “Voyagers” update has once again put it in the spotlight. According to foreign media reports, the game’s single-day peak concurrent players on Steam reached 93,000, the highest since the 2018 “NEXT” update—over 6× higher than July’s 15,000. Overall peak players in August were also up by about 41% compared to July.
This “Voyagers” update is version 6.0 and is a major overhaul. Players can now build a fully customizable ship and invite friends aboard to explore the universe together. Unlike the past, where ship appearances were fixed, you can now assemble from hundreds of modules. Even better, these ships are no longer just vehicles—they’re mobile bases equipped with practical facilities like a medical bay, sleeping quarters, and a war room, all freely configurable to your liking.
To accompany the update, the game is also running a new limited-time event. Complete designated missions to earn exclusive outfits and decorative items—helping newcomers get up to speed faster while giving veterans fresh goals. There are also new appearance kits for more personal style, plus improvements to overall visuals, lighting, and load times for a smoother, more stable experience.
According to the developers, to let players freely walk inside starships—and even move around mid-flight—the team almost rewrote the entire game engine. The technologies used in this update will also be applied to their upcoming title Light No Fire (無火之光). Stay tuned.
